What MessageCare can do for You

MessageCare is an asynchronous telehealth service where you fill out a form detailing your symptoms. A provider reviews your responses and sends a treatment plan or next steps through the patient portal—no video or phone call needed. While MessageCare is convenient, it has limitations on what can be treated

What Message-Care Can Treat:

  • Mild to moderate symptoms that do not require an in-person exam.

  • Medication refills for non-controlled substances.

  • Mild flare-ups of chronic conditions (e.g., allergies, mild asthma, acid reflux).

  • Skin conditions (e.g., acne, rashes, mild infections).

  • General health questions and follow-ups.

🚫 What MessageCare Cannot Treat:

  • Severe or worsening conditions that require immediate attention.

  • New or complex medical issues needing a detailed evaluation.

  • Emergencies such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, or stroke symptoms—please call 911.

  • Severe psychiatric conditions like psychosis or suicidality—seek immediate in-person care.

  • Prescriptions for controlled substances, including:

    • ADHD medications (e.g., Adderall, Ritalin).

    • Pain medications (e.g., opioids).

    • Certain controlled medications (e.g., Lyrica).

📌 If MessageCare is not appropriate for your condition, we may recommend a video visit or in-person care.

Emergency Procedures for MessageCare

  • Before submitting a MessageCare request, you'll be asked a few screening questions to check for severe symptoms or emergency conditions. If your answers indicate that you may need urgent or emergency care, you will be prompted to seek immediate medical attention instead. In this case, you won’t be able to submit your request, and you will not be charged.

  • If, after reviewing your questionnaire, we determine that your condition requires emergency care or an urgent care visit, we will notify you through a phone call and a secure message on the patient portal advising you to seek in-person medical attention.

📌 Please note: We are not responsible for any costs related to emergency services, urgent care visits, or ambulance transport.
